Cardiff based construction firm Voltcom, have recently secured a four year framework with Scottish Power Energy Networks servicing the Low Voltage to 33kV Overhead Line Network in the Dee Valley and Oswestry region of Mid Wales.
SP Energy Networks awarded the four-year framework as part of their Electricity Distribution Business Plans submitted to Ofgem in 2015. The framework is Voltcom’s first award in the Distribution marketplace and sees the preservation of twenty one jobs under TUPE from an incumbent provider but has since gone on to create a further seventeen roles for Overhead Line workers in the local area.
Ed White, Managing Director of Voltcom Construction comments “Voltcom’s strategy has been aligned to the performance model of our market regulator (Ofgem) and this simplifies our value offering. We are delighted that SP Energy Networks have recognized this, but more so the fact that we have been able to preserve these highly skilled resources and then create further employment in this geography”. White continues “whilst Voltcom will seek to recruit experienced staff, we are also keen to welcome apprentices and trainees into our business and can offer a structured development path for career progression.”
Voltcom have opened an office outside of Wrexham to service this contract and will be seeking to engage with members of the communities of Dee Valley & Oswestry to ensure continuity.
